Picks of the Week:
Not nearly as much to choose from this week but determined music fans should still be able to find plenty to enjoy. BandZandt will be wrapping up the Elizabeth Park concert series as they do most years. Epi and Cruz Martinez were apparently a big hit at the Jamboree and should be a lot of fun. Blues fans can hang out at the Elks lodge all afternoon Saturday. I’m not a Steely Dan fan but I have to admit I’m impressed by the existence of a local band that can play a bunch of their material. Then on Sunday you’ve got some cool bluegrass happening with Crooked Constellation. What are you going to see? Leave a comment and let us know.

News and Upcoming Events:
Ever since I started writing this newsletter there have been more and more events each week. I knew that was bound to come to an end eventually but I didn’t think it would be so drastic. We went from 38 listed events last week to 23 this week. A lot of the ongoing outdoor events are wrapping up and with case numbers rising venues may be reluctant to move the action inside.
We do have one new spot debuting in the listings this week. That’s What I Like Island Grill is the new Filipino restaurant out on Northwest Ave, and they’re hosting one night of live music.
If you want to get out of town, the Amp Fest down in Anacortes has some pretty great acts playing on Saturday.
Speaking of out of town, The Unknowns are headed all the way to Puyallup to represent Whatcom County with a couple sets at the State Fair on Friday.
A reminder to all Bellingham based bands and musicians to head over to bellinghambands.com if you haven’t already and get yourself listed. Venue owners and bookers use this list, so if you’re not on it you might be missing out.
Bellingham Symphony has announced their schedule for the year. They are going to have reduced capacity in the Mount Baker Theater so they are performing each program twice.
Kulshan Chorus is looking for new members.
Cat Valley have a new single coming out next week with the fantastic title “Dive Bar Fight Song”. It’s part of an EP planned for November.
After the Jonathan Sherman memorial event last weekend, Brendan from his old band Falling Up Stairs released their previously unavailable album to Bandcamp. If improvised “murder jazz” is your cup of tea then be sure to check that out.
The photo up top is The Sweet Goodbyes at Boundary, taken by Leland Anderson. If you get great photos or videos of local music and you’d like to see them in here, please do let me know.
Finally, The Bellingham Girls Rock Camp gear sale is this Friday from noon to 5 at 1001 C St. Go get some new music gear while supporting a cool organization!
Thanks for reading! Please share this newsletter with anyone you think might enjoy it so we can continue to grow. Musicians and venues: email bellinghammusicdigest@gmail.com if you’ve got news you want included next week!
