I’m not going to single out any particular shows this week. I’m just going to say if you head out please take every possible precaution. Also, check with venues to make sure they are open, we have a lot of local bars and restaurants shutting down right now. Here’s hoping it’s true that the Omicron wave burns itself out quickly.

News and Upcoming Events:
There’s a new weekly jazz night happening every Tuesday at Aslan, featuring Thomas Harris, Duncan Lang, Blake Angelos, Mark Hunter, and Julian Macdonough. Even cooler, it’s free! (Although whenever something like this is free, you should definitely tip well if you can.)
Foxy Apollo video released a cool new video, you can check out the premiere of that over at Breakout magazine.
The new Cold Sludge album is out! Bringing back memories of when “lo-fi” was a rock subgenre, it’s packed with 16 songs all 2 minutes or less.
Crooked Constellation have announced they are going on an indefinite hiatus. Before that they want to do a live album with a bunch of new songs, and they have an Indiegogo campaign to help raise the funds to make that the best it can be.
Local punkers Terminally Dumb just dropped a fun EP.
Mount Baker Theater’s upcoming lineup seems about as strong as can remember them ever having, especially for roots/ folk fans: Joan Osborne, Pink Martini, Kristin Chenoweth, Richard Thompson, Watchhouse (formerly Mandolin Orange), and Jason Isbell are a few of the highlights.
We’ve also got a doubleheader with Hell’s Belles coming up at The Shakedown, get your AC/DC fix there.
With the double whammy of Omicron and a big snowstorm, a lot of big shows have been cancelled or postponed lately. So far for postponements we’ve got Daikaju at the Shakedown moved to February 13th, and Petty or Not and Baby Cakes at the Wild Buffalo moved to February 4th. The Willdabeast show scheduled for this weekend has also been postponed, not sure of the new date yet.

Video of the week: Local guitar hero Sean Meyer (Spine Readers, Scary Monster and the Super Creeps, etc.) has been out touring with Seattle’s Supercrush, and sent along this great video. (Kids, learn from Sean: when you go on tour, it will always be a super cool move to represent your hometown by wearing the t-shirts of your favorite local bands.)
Thank you so much for putting this weekly guide out. With all the chaos going on it's nice to know where one can escape for a bit.
