Picks of the Week:
The open mic tonight is going to be live streamed, so if you have friends in other places and feel like sharing your music with them that’s a neat opportunity. Thursday you’ve got your choice of a cult favorite singer-songwriter or an excellent bunch of noisy local punks. Friday is going to be a big night downtown, with lots of music to go along with Art Walk. You could try to do a double header, hit one show early and another one late. (If you come by Wink Wink be sure to say hi, that’s me on guitar.) Fossil Fire are celebrating the release of their debut album and what I’ve heard from that sounds great. Saturday’s show at Schweinhaus should be a party, and it would be great to see them do more live music there. If you’re looking for something a little mellower you’ve got the Sons of Rainier doing classic country at the Shakedown, with support from the unclassifiable weirdness of Von Wildenhaus. Amendment 21 is, true to their name, celebrating the anniversary of the end of Prohibition on Sunday with a show by Hot Damn Scandal, that will be a lot of fun.

News and Upcoming Events:
The Wild Buffalo has some neat local music only bills coming up on the next two Thursdays, one of them co-presented by this very newsletter. On Thursday the 9th it’s Munch Ink, Cat Valley, and Foxy Apollo, then on the 16th it’s Bob Fossil, Separatr, and Blood Capsules. It would be great to see these kinds of shows becoming a fixture on that stage, so I hope many of you will come out for them!
This Friday is a Bandcamp Friday, making it an excellent chance to support local musicians and check out new music. If you missed it, I did another local music roundup yesterday to go with the one from August. Those might help you find some things to check out. If there’s something I missed be sure to mention it in the comments. Two I already know I missed: The Unknowns will have some new music on there soon, and Proud Failures just dropped a rager of a punk EP and will be celebrating that on Thursday.
Whatcom Live Aid is happening the weekend of the 10th and 11th to raise money for those affected by the ongoing flooding. A whole bunch of top local musicians are already signed up to perform benefit shows around town. If you are interested in contributing either as a performer or a venue email me at bellinghammusicdigest@gmail.com and I can help get you connected.
Thanks to everyone who has subscribed so far. Please share this newsletter with anyone you think might enjoy it so we can continue to grow.
