Picks of the Week:
Wednesday you’ve got cool Latin influenced jazz at the Sylvia Center. Owen is the solo project of Mike Kinsella of American Football, so emo fans will want to check that out. If you’re more in the mood to party, the Wild Buffalo has you covered with Polyrhythmics on Friday and Nite Wave on Saturday. The Firehouse is bringing back their Monday happy hour shows, that should be fun. Finally, I’ve got to mention Loudon Wainwright here. If you’re not familiar with his stuff, or maybe you only know his more famous offspring, be sure to check him out and see if you might want to go that show. He’s been doing the singer-songwriter thing for 50+ years and just has an incredible collection of songs, stories, and jokes at this point.

News and Upcoming Events:
Before next month’s Bandcamp Friday I want to do another Bandcamp roundup. If you have put new music up on there in the last few months, make sure to let me know. In the meantime you can check out the list I wrote back in August if you haven’t already.
WWU’s AS Productions is bringing local music back to campus in a big way later this month with two consecutive nights of four band shows at the VU Multipurpose Room. Great to see that happening, check out the lineup here.
Analog Brass have a new single coming out next week, and got a sweet review in Offbeat Magazine.
The Tuesday night jazz shows at Makeworth are going to run through the end of November but they need a new home after that.
Whatcom Talk had a nice profile of Cat Valley recently. They have an EP coming out soon and a show at the Shakedown on the 18th to celebrate.
Karate Church is going to stop doing large events for a while while they get some repairs and upgrades done but will still have some open mics and smaller shows. The show on Tuesday at Boundary was originally going to be at Karate Church, so cheers to Boundary for making it happen there.
